Physical Health is an important component of every individual’s well-being. When we feel physically well, we can better focus on our healing. Access to physical health resources changes depending on your social location, and the Wellness Centre exists to both acknowledge these realities and contribute to eliminating inequitable access to physical health care.
While physical health consists of many components, here is a brief list of the key areas that should be addressed:
Physical activity - includes strength, flexibility, and endurance
Nutrition and diet - includes nutrient intake, fluid intake, and healthy digestion
Alcohol and drugs - includes safe consumption of these substances, and support for abstinence if that is the person’s choice
Medical self-care - includes addressing minor ailments or injuries and seeking good quality emergency care as necessary
Rest and sleep - includes periodic rest and relaxation, along with high quality sleep
